Dear Al,
I am grateful that destiny brought us together. Even though we have not seen each other for many years. But my memories live on forever.
The first time I met Al, I was secretly tense, not daring to talk because Al seemed like a quiet person. But when we talked, you are a lovely person.
You like to talk about football, the Essendon team. I still remembered the feeling when I went to watch football at the stadium for the first time. It was so much fun, even though I did not know the rules but I could feel Al’s fanaticism. Every time I came home from school, Al would always sit on the sofa and watch TV especially Essendon football matches.
Another thing I remembered, it was a family’s road trip from Melbourne to Sydney. Even though it’s a long distance and takes quite a long time, but I felt fun and excited with the atmosphere on both sides of the road. When my children grow up, I want to drive them around just like Al took me.
May your soul rest in peace.
Love and miss you always.

You have been greatest source of inspiration and courage. Deep in my heart I will always keep your image.
I met Al when he was a young father to Tim. It is nice to remember him in the days when he was not affected by Parkinsons. Al was a great father – patient, tolerant and always sharing knowledge with his children, and a loyal and devoted husband to Sylv. He had a mischievous, cheeky smile and a great sense of humour. I have many happy memories of Christmases in Terrigal and Port Macquarie. My eldest daughter, Emma is heartbroken as she and he had a special bond, born of his kindness and understanding of her. I will remember him with fondness and admiration for his ability to endure such a long and demeaning illness. RIP Al, reunited with Sylv. ❤️
When I met Al, he was already quite affected by his illness. That did not stop him joining the grandchildren on the trampoline… did he break ribs, or just get bruised? An amazing, courageous, loving man. So glad to have known him. So sorry for your loss.
