Mum (Jean Moebus, nee Beaver), one of Valerie’s oldest and dearest friends, would like me to pass on her condolences to Carol, Peter, Rhonda and Robyn and their families, on the passing of Valerie. Mum remembers that Val would often be given lollies and comics from her father when he visited her and she was so envious! Val lived with her Aunt in a house, on the corner of Scotchmer St and Rae St, North Fitzroy, that was originally owned by Mum’s Great Grandfather. Neither knew that until just recently and I spoke to Valerie about living there. She commented that she was always hiding away from her Aunt to read! As Mum and Val grew up and had children, they would meet once each week with their babies, to have lunch together. We would visit as I and my two brothers got older too, Wayne and Trevor (Moebus) and I certainly remember your Mum. Our Mum, Jean, is now in aged care in Echuca and at 96 is doing very well. I know that she will miss her yearly phone catch ups with Valerie. Our thoughts are with you all. I think Mum was very blessed to have known Valerie for such a long time. It has been a friendship that has really weathered the years. Farewell to a lovely lady.
