Margaret ‘Margie’ BRADBEER

29.5.1951 – 4.5.2024

Our beautiful Margie died on Saturday morning. We are heartbroken.

Margie was warm, wise, gentle and splendid.  She lit up lives wherever she went.  She knew how to listen, how to love widely and unconditionally, how to guide and counsel, how to spend time in quiet solitude and reflection, how to be fun, how to be silly, how to delight her grandchildren.  She looked for the gift in everything, even the darkest of times.

She was a loving and beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend.

She nurtured in her daughters all the resources they needed to live and love deeply, and to navigate sorrow bravely.  She loved her Jamie wholly and happily for more than 50 years, and was, and is still, totally adored by him.

We never took for granted how lucky we were to have her, but we are only now beginning to understand the importance and enormity of the gifts she left behind in us and all who knew her.

Shine, shine, beautiful Margie. Light up the heavens with your wide smile.

A funeral service to celebrate Margie’s life will be held at 11am on MONDAY 13th May 2024 at the Good Shepherd Chapel, 1 Saint Heliers Street, Abbotsford.

Seating is mostly on pews.  You may wish to bring a cushion.  Dress as you wish to honour Margie’s life.

For those unable to attend, the edited filmed funeral service will be available early the week commencing 20th May, 2024.

Those wishing to make a gesture might consider a donation to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Margie’s name.

Some people come into this world and leave an impression on the many they meet. They show that decency, integrity, strength, and warmth can be lived and shared amongst people. There is no doubt that Joan Gladman was one of them.

The best the world could offer was in Joan.

From Ian:

I would personally like to invite you to come to our home ‘Petticoat Junction’, 2478 Ballan Daylesford Road, Sailors Falls 3461,  at 2pm for 2:30pm on FRIDAY 13th January 2023, to say goodbye to my wonderful husband. On 24th December 2022 he took flight and became part of the universe.

It is the wish of this beautiful man that it not be a time for darkness, so please do not wear black or dark colours, but instead colourful smart casual.

Gary always said flowers were to be enjoyed. We would therefore like you to consider donating the funds to your favourite charity or, better still, send the flowers to someone you love or you think would enjoy them.

We are gathering to celebrate the life of an extraordinary and proud gay man. He loved me and cared for everyone with whom he came in contact.

If you have not done so already, please contact me directly, or Natural Grace if you intend to attend so we can ensure that we cater for all. Further details can be found on his Facebook page or mine.

Celebrating the life of Gerard Jones

Our beautiful Gerard has passed away gently, surrounded by love and held by his family. We feel that he is resting peacefully and satisfied that he did everything he wanted to and tried so hard to live longer.

Gerard’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial on Tuesday 15th February 2022 at 11.00am to be held at MacKillop Family Services, 237 Cecil St, South Melbourne. The ceremony will be followed by a light lunch.

We ask that all those who are attending in person wear a mask when not eating or drinking. There will be well-ventilated indoor and outdoor seating options to help keep everyone protected. Please understand that all attendees must be fully vaccinated to attend the Memorial. This is for legal requirements and also to protect the vulnerable members of our community.

For those who are unable to attend in person, the Memorial service will also be live streamed by Belinda Jane Video and streaming will commence 15 minutes before the scheduled start. The link is

Please forward this link to all those who would like to join the ceremony online.

Thank you for all the support, the heartfelt tributes and the expressions of love. These are consoling and carrying us in this most difficult part of our lives, and will form part of the Memorial.

Please do not send flowers. You will think of some other special way to honour him; making a donation, writing a song, planting a tree, going camping, or enjoying a good meal, a glass of wine and sharing stories about Gerard.

A lovely way that others have memorialised their loved ones has been through a selection of their favourite songs, and as Gerard had such a love of music we felt this would be a very fitting thing to share with you all. You can access the playlist here.
