‘Thank you for your care and support’
Even without a global pandemic, it can be tough when life and death meet. How we care for ourselves and honour the person who has died is a gentle and careful balance that needs lots of time and plenty of connection with the people we love. Sadly, much of that has changed under the current restrictions. How and where we can hold funerals. How many people can attend. Having to be physically distant with those that do.
At Natural Grace, we want to assure you that we can still guide you in creating authentic, sustainable and meaningful funerals for you, your family and community. We can still have vigils, where you can see your person again; we can still have funerals here at The Sanctuary in Woodend or in selected venues or cemeteries locally or across Melbourne. We can live-stream to those at home or overseas. Whilst social distancing directives still apply*, we can and always will support you in having a meaningful and intimate farewell.
So please talk with us about your needs – we’re here for you. Together we will get through this.
Do not turn away from the fact of death, but together make gentle its affect. Especially in times like these. Love, Libby and everyone at Natural Grace x
*All funeral services are restricted to 20 people indoors, or 30 people outdoors plus associated funeral and cemetery staff. Social distancing rules apply in all settings and the collection of attendee details for 28 days for contact tracing purposes only. Not all venues are open for funerals at this time.
It is very natural to feel anxious.
It’s natural to be unsure whether you feel shocked, sad, angry, depressed, relieved, guilty, fearful, or all of these at once. Coping with these feelings is at the heart of the many ways in which we can truly care for the dead, the dying, and for those who are left behind.
Conventional funeral practices work well for many people but may not provide the scope to be as deeply and personally involved as you may need to be. Fortunately, there are many other options available with end of life care and most people simply aren’t aware that ceremonies, budgets, caring for the dead or even ways of transportation are not set in stone.
We believe that providing the opportunity to choose what is right for you, your family, and the people you love is vital. We see from experience that genuine, honest engagement is the best way of honouring the dead and the pain of bereavement. We know that the law supports families who for instance, want to keep their deceased at home for a period of time – as well as many other traditional practices.
We understand that sometimes the best person to care for the dead are the people who knew them and loved them when they were living. That a dying wish can be a chance to leave a cleaner environment as their legacy. That green funerals do exist. That expensive caskets are not compulsory. That we all have the right to be buried in a coffin, a shroud, a simple pine box or a Hawaiian shirt if that’s what we want.
Every person mourns differently. At Natural Grace Holistic Funerals Victoria, we are here to help you do just that.

Melbourne Funeral Services With a Difference
With Natural Grace’s Victoria funerals, we believe in giving you choice in how you want to say goodbye and we are there to support you in any way we can. This includes home-based care of your loved one where you have the opportunity to provide care for them in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of home.
Should you prefer, we can take care of the body in our tranquil premises in beautiful surroundings. This can have as much or as little of your input. We use natural methods to care for the body before it goes to its final resting place. You are welcome to visit at any time to say a private goodbye or to simply spend time with your loved one.
Natural Grace: giving you a natural choice
A funeral should have a very individual approach, which is why we support you with family-led funerals. It can be a comfort to know that we are there to give you any help where it is needed.
At Natural Grace, we have transparent pricing. We do not have a one package fits all option because everyone is different. Therefore, everything is itemised, and you will know exactly how much everything is going to cost and there are low-cost options available to you. You can even choose to bring your favourite flowers from your garden or have the community take care of the catering.
As befits our ethos, we offer a range of eco-friendly funeral options that go far beyond the choice of a coffin. This includes how the body is prepared, the burial or cremation and the service. This way, the wishes of your loved one to leave a better environment can be kept and you can be comforted knowing that you are giving something back to the earth.
