COVID-19 Funerals

Even without a global pandemic, it can be tough when life and death meet. How we care for ourselves and honour the person who has died is a gentle and careful balance that needs lots of time and plenty of connection with the people we love. Sadly, much of that has changed under the current restrictions. How and where we can hold funerals. How many people can attend. Having to be physically distant with those that do.*

At Natural Grace, we want to assure you that we can still guide you in creating authentic, sustainable and meaningful funerals for you, your family and community. We can still have vigils, where you can see your person again; we can still have funerals at selected venues or cemeteries locally or across Melbourne. We can live-stream to those at home or overseas. Whilst social distancing directives still apply, we can and always will support you in having a meaningful and intimate farewell.

So please talk with us about your needs – we’re here for you. Together we will get through this.

It is very natural to feel anxious.

It’s natural to be unsure whether you feel shocked, sad, angry, depressed, relieved, guilty, fearful, or all of these at once.  Coping with these feelings is at the heart of the many ways in which we can truly care for the dead, the dying, and for those who are left behind.

Conventional funeral practices work well for many people but may not provide the scope to be as deeply and personally involved as you may need to be. Fortunately, there are many other options available with end of life care and most people simply aren’t aware that ceremonies, budgets, caring for the dead or even ways of transportation are not set in stone.

We believe that providing the opportunity to choose what is right for you, your family, and the people you love is vital. We see from experience that genuine, honest engagement is the best way of honouring the dead and the pain of bereavement. We know that the law supports families who for instance, want to keep their deceased at home for a period of time – as well as many other traditional practices.

We understand that sometimes the best person to care for the dead are the people who knew them and loved them when they were living. That a dying wish can be a chance to leave a cleaner environment as their legacy. That green funerals do exist.  That expensive caskets are not compulsory. That we all have the right to be buried in a coffin, a shroud, a simple pine box or a Hawaiian shirt if that’s what we want.

Every person mourns differently.  At Natural Grace Holistic Funerals Victoria, we are here to help you do just that.

Victoria & Melbourne Funeral Services

Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy and arranging a funeral that truly reflects who they are is the best way to give them the send-off they deserve.

At Natural Grace, our funerals in Melbourne and the surrounding areas do just that. We help you to plan a funeral that is an authentic reflection of a person’s life in a beautiful and moving ceremony that can be arranged sustainably.

Melbourne Funeral Services With a Difference

With Natural Grace’s Victoria funerals, we believe in giving you choice in how you want to say goodbye and we are there to support you in any way we can. This includes home-based care of your loved one where you have the opportunity to provide care for them in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of home.

Should you prefer, we can take care of the body in our tranquil premises in beautiful surroundings. This can have as much or as little of your input. We use natural methods to care for the body before it goes to its final resting place. You are welcome to visit at any time to say a private goodbye or to simply spend time with your loved one.

Natural Grace: giving you a natural choice

A funeral should have a very individual approach, which is why we support you with family-led funerals. It can be a comfort to know that we are there to give you any help where it is needed.

At Natural Grace, we have transparent pricing. We do not have a one package fits all option because everyone is different. Therefore, everything is itemised, and you will know exactly how much everything is going to cost and there are low-cost options available to you. You can even choose to bring your favourite flowers from your garden or have the community take care of the catering.

As befits our ethos, we offer a range of eco-friendly funeral options that go far beyond the choice of a coffin. This includes how the body is prepared, the burial or cremation and the service. This way, the wishes of your loved one to leave a better environment can be kept and you can be comforted knowing that you are giving something back to the earth.

Funeral Services in Melbourne

As you face one of the most difficult times in your life, it can be helpful to know that there are funeral homes in Victoria who can help you to prepare as you say your final goodbye to the one you love.

For our funeral services in Melbourne, you can be involved as much or as little as you want to be. At Natural Grace, our staff do everything that they can to assist you with organising a funeral, and we are on hand to help when, and if, you need us to.

We give you the option to help hold the service with a family-led funeral, as well as prepare the body for burial or cremation. We encourage the use of natural methods using warm water, essential oils, goats milk soap, and organic skin and hair care products, rather than traditional embalming because it is better for the environment and more natural. Being involved during this process can help you to come to terms with your loss, although there is never any expectation, and you can do what is right for you at the time.

We Create a Respectful and Bespoke Farewell for Your Loved One

A funeral service that reflects the life of your loved one is often one of the best ways to say goodbye to them. At Natural Grace, we specialise in creating a bespoke funeral in Victoria that is centred entirely around your loved one and the life they led.

As such, we offer pricing on a ‘per item’ basis, which means that you can choose where you would like support. We encourage the involvement of your friends and family to create a truly special farewell that is authentic, and not just your average funeral. With involvement from all those who loved them, a funeral from Natural Grace can help everyone to adjust to life without the one you have lost. This can also be a great way to keep within your budget.

Natural Grace also offers an all-inclusive, low-cost option to allow everyone to say goodbye in the most beautiful way.

Trustworthy Care for a Meaningful Funeral Experience

There is so much more to funerals in Melbourne than the traditional services that you might have dealt with. Here at Natural Grace, we know that the comfort of conventional funeral care helps some people to come to terms with their loss – but for others, dealing with their grief includes wanting to be involved with the care of their loved one. Our funeral directors in Melbourne have great reviews because we work in a very personal way – allowing loved ones to celebrate the life of the deceased in the manner that makes the most sense.

Most people are unaware of the legalities around alternative funerals in Melbourne, but we have done all the research so we know all about the possibilities of green funerals, biodegradable coffins, and urns, and even the different ways that we can prepare your loved one’s body – both at home and in The Sanctuary.

We know that all people deserve to be loved and cherished in death as well as in life; that is why we make sure that every single part of the process is designed to honour and celebrate the deceased. With our funeral services in Melbourne, we aim to give you and your family the funeral service that means the most.

While not a legal requirement, Natural Grace are members of the National Funeral Directors Association.

Sustainable Funeral Service

We believe in making sustainable choices – and that extends to our Melbourne funerals. From preparing and caring for the body using organic skin and hair care products like essential oils and goats’ milk soap to providing an environmentally sustainable range of coffins, shrouds, and urns; created by local, certified suppliers of wool, wicker, timber, and fabrics.

We are also working with the increased interest in natural burial grounds where the deceased may be buried, marked by a native tree and possibly the most sustainable form of burial from a funeral service Melbourne – we truly, honestly, care.
